Achetez une Kia électrique et recevez un sent-bon pour l’auto… au parfum d’essence?

There are several reasons why drivers are hesitant or simply unwilling to switch to electric vehicles. Some people in particular say they miss the sound and feel of internal combustion engines and gearboxes.

That's why car manufacturers have developed artificial sounds or even systems that simulate gear shifting for their electric models. Some also joke.

This is the case of the distributor Come on then in Finland, which has just launched a fun advertising campaign on its social media. To reassure people who might be bored with heat engines and perhaps even gas stations, the company is announcing a new car fragrance in the shape of a gasoline can that smells like gasoline (well, almost).

And you will have to act quickly, because quantities are limited!

We, of course, very much doubt that this little trick will work, especially since the aroma, according to its creator, “is also similar to the smell of a repair shop.” The idea is simply to grab the attention of consumers who aren't necessarily thinking about buying an electric vehicle, and add a touch of nostalgia by promoting an all-new sedan. EV4 (pictured above).

In Canada, this future competitor to the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai IONIQ 6 will go on sale in the first months of 2026 and will be available in five versions: with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The lineup includes a choice of two batteries: a 58.3 kWh battery delivers 201 horsepower and a Kia-estimated range of 378 km, while an 81.4 kWh battery (to be determined) offers a range of 482 to 531 km.

Although EV4 is based on the same e-GMP platform as EB5, EB6 etc. EB9its electrical system is limited to 400V instead of 800V, which will result in slightly slower recharging at the DC terminals. According to Kia, going from 10 to 80% takes about 29 minutes with the small battery and 31 minutes with the large battery. However, the integrated NACS port will provide direct access to Tesla Superchargers, and V2L technology will still be included to be able to supply power to compatible external devices.
