Abraham Quintanilla Jr., father of the deceased Selena Quintanilladied at the age of 86. His son, A.B. Quintanilla, confirmed his death in a brief message on December 13. “It is with a heavy heart that I inform you guys that my father passed away today…” – he published next to a photo of his father. Abraham managed Selena's career and is credited with the success of the family group Selena y Los Dinos. Born in 1939 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Abraham always loved music and created his own pop music group, The Dinos. However, as musical trends changed, especially in Texas, The Dinos soon became Los Dinos and switched to Spanish-language music. He married Marcella, Selena's mother, in 1963, and when Selena was born in 1971, he saw musical talent “from day one.” He formed Selena y Los Dinos with his children AB on bass and Suzette on drums. Selena eventually moved on to a solo career, and Los Dinos were by her side at live shows. Selena's career was cut short when she was shot and killed in 1995 by Yolanda Saldivar, who was the president of her fan club.
Abraham was a strong advocate for preserving Selene's legacy after her murder, despite criticism for the way her music and image were promoted in a post-humorous way. He was played by Edward James Olmos in the 1997 biopic about the lives of Selena and Ricardo Chavira in the 2020 Netflix series.
