Aaron Rodgers asks Steelers tackle to ease up on physical celebrations: ‘I’m 41’

Aaron Rodgers He went viral last Thursday with some clever passes to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the biggest clip that went viral was after the game-tying pass in the fourth quarter.

Rodgers celebrated a 68-yard catch and run from tight end Pat Freiermuth's six to give Pittsburgh the lead late. Cincinnati Bengalsbut when offensive tackle Broderick Jones tried to join Rodgers, the momentum went awry. Jones jumped on Rogers and they both fell to the turf.

Rogers was furious and on Wednesday gave a straight answer as to why.

“What you don’t see in the video is right after the throw he comes up to me and shakes me and shakes me,” Rodgers said of Jones. “I texted him, I said, 'Hey, I love your energy, I love everything you're talking about. But also, I'm 41 years old. You can't fight me.”

Fair enough, Aaron.

The celebration didn't last long for the Steelers, however, as Joe Flacco threw a coming-out party in his first home game against the Bengals since being traded to the Bengals. Cleveland Browns.

Flacco capped his big night with a winning performance, defeating his AFC North rival 33-31.

Rodgers threw for 249 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. And Jones truly deserved the celebration, considering Rodgers was never sacked despite the loss.

While Rodgers doesn't want Jones to grab him again, the 6-foot-5, 311-pound tackle doesn't rule out it never happening again.

“It’s just the energy that I bring and he brings,” he told reporters Tuesday. “He told me, 'Don't lose your fire,' and I told him the same thing. We'll see on Sunday when he scores another touchdown. Maybe I can handle it again.”

It will be a special Sunday for Rodgers, who will face his former team, the Green Bay Packers, for the first time since he traded to the New York Jets two seasons ago. Rodgers obviously has a storied history with the franchise, which led to him being taken 24th overall in the 2005 NFL Draft.

He commented on the meeting with the Packers, saying he had “no animosity toward the organization.”

“I wish things had been better in our last year there, but I have great relationships with a lot of the people who are still in the organization and this is not a revenge game for me.” he told ESPN. “I’m just excited to see some of these guys and be back on Sunday Night Football.”

With the lights on for prime time at Acresure Stadium on Sunday night, Rodgers may not see this as a rematch, but he's certainly hoping to score a lot of touchdowns against his former team.

He just hopes to stay upright after he throws them.
