Elias Toufexis, voice actor for Robot Employee of the Year and Deus Ex Lead character Adam Jensen has assured fans that the new installment of the sci-fi series will not be released in 2026 because those responsible are “psychopaths.”
This sad news and witty remark came through Toufexis. Twitterwhere he celebrated the new year by sharing a cheeky snap of his upcoming work in 2026. Bold because while one of the four projects featured is clearly Bungie's upcoming shooter Marathon, the other three projects are NDAs and cannot be discussed by the voice actor.
The post, which reveals three mysterious projects starring Toufexis, has some Deus Ex fans feeling renewed hope that a new game in the franchise is on the way. In addition to the original Deus Ex games and Deus Ex: The Invisible War in the early 2000s we received Deus Ex: Human Revolution in 2011 and Deus Ex: Humanity Divided in 2016. Since then, one of gaming's most beloved sci-fi series has remained dormant.
With this context in mind, Toufexis decided to break the bad news to Deus Ex fans by writing, “No Deus Ex because the people in charge are psychopaths.” The disappointment is understandable, especially considering that “Humanity Shattered” ended with a narrative bite that has remained inconclusive ever since.
So who's in charge these days? So Mankind Divided was developed by Eidos Montreal and published Enix Square back in 2016. Square Enix would later sell the intellectual property to the Embracer group in 2022.along with Tomb Raider and Thief, as well as the entire Eidos Montreal studio. Embracer Group would later cancel the Deus Ex game in 2024. dismiss a significant part of the staff. At the time of writing, Embracer still retains control of the franchise and studio.
Whether we'll ever see another Deus Ex game remains a mystery, although there may be some hope. Crystal Dynamics, another studio sold to Embracer by Square Enix, just recently unveiled a new Tomb Raider game. If Lara Croft can come back, why can't Adam Jensen come back? Fingers crossed.
