‘A Hundred or More’ Republicans Could Vote to Release Epstein Files

On ABC's “This Week” Sunday, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) said he believes “a hundred or more” House Republicans could vote to release Jeffrey Epstein's files.

Host Jonathan Karl said: “President Trump fought long and hard to prevent your dismissal petition from being considered. You won that battle. What happens now? How many House Republicans are following your lead and challenging the President on this issue?”

Massie said, “I think we could have a flood of Republicans, a hundred or more. I hope to have a veto-proof majority on this bill when it comes to a vote. The President has been saying it's a hoax. He's been saying it for months. Now he's decided to investigate the hoax. If it's a hoax, I have another concern about these investigations that he's announced. If they have ongoing investigations in certain areas, those documents can't be released. So it could be “a hoax. A big smokescreen, these investigations to open a number of them as a last-ditch attempt to prevent the release of the Epstein files.”

Carl said, “It's unusual to hear him demand an investigation and only mention Democrats, only mention his political opponents. But you're saying he doesn't really want any investigation. He wants to prevent the release. Why does he want to prevent it? What is he afraid of?”

Massey said, “You know, I never said these files would implicate Donald Trump. I really don't think they will. I think he's trying to protect a bunch of rich and powerful friends, billionaires, his campaign donors, friends in his social circles. That's my running theory as to why he's trying so hard to keep these files closed.”
