“I think that I think this will remember this vote is that it was a test example of whether the“ Republicans in Congress ”can change the way to assign the government,” Michael Sherer, a full -time writer AtlanticHe said last night.
Historically, Sherer explained, even when one side controls both chambers of the Congress, 60 votes are still necessary to pass the budget through the Senate. “This means that you need a two -party process,” he continued. But this differs from the request for cancellation, which can pass only 51 votes. According to Sherer, the purpose of the Trump administration is to break away from the two -party budget process, “making it purely partisan.” This, according to Sherer, can “dramatically change the entire method of the budget of the federal government for many years.”
