Last week, a Reddit user posted a post demonstrating that after installing multiple SSD heat sinks on iPhones, they received much better sustained performance.
It's a neat design that looks fun on the Cosmic Orange model, but it's clearly overkill compared to MagSafe fan coolers. This device also has two tiny fans that need to be powered by the fan headers on the motherboard, so it's not completely passive either.
The poster seems to suggest that this will help with long shoots, but with so much weight, I think it defeats the purpose of the iPhone's small camera. That said, if there was a smaller version of something like this that didn't use a fan, it might still help, but once you go outside and are in the sun and the radiators get hot too, I'm not sure how effective this type of solution would be.
If you are a gamer then this is like MagSafe Fan Accessories like this one on Amazon popular among Pokemon Go players as they need to play in direct sunlight for long periods of time.
