Canadian companies want homegrown cybersecurity options

A Canadian registration authority on the Internet (Cira) published his study of the cybersecurity of 2025, which shows that an increasing number of specialists choose more home options when considering a cybersecurity supplier.

According to the survey, 82 percent of experts say that the country of origin has become more important when considering cybersecurity suppliers. It is interesting that 56 percent of the respondents said that they revised the option of cybersecurity in the United States due to trade and current political uncertainty.

One interesting point that revealed the study is that, although almost all companies (98 percent) are training cybersecurity, 57 percent of the companies report this training monthly, which remains approximately unchanged since 2022, despite the threat of cyber ends that will become more hostile. As for cyber attacks, every fourth (24 percent) Canadian companies said that last year they became victims of extortionists. Among these victims, 74 percent reported that their data was stolen, and 74 percent paid a ransom, which, as noted in the study, usually amounted to more than $ 25,000. From the point of view of eliminating data, 42 percent of the surveyed organizations reported violation of customer data or employees in 2025, compared with 29 percent in 2022.

In terms of AI, 70 percent of respondents are worried about potential cyberosis from generative AI. Nevertheless, only 18 percent were very concerned, and 52 percent replied that they were somewhat concerned. The survey also notes that organizations are most concerned about data collected by AI tools (65 percent of respondents) and improved phishing emails/texts (61 percent of respondents). Organizations also expressed concern about Deepfakes (images, video and audio).

On the theme of Deepfakes, Spotify recently announced that it breaks up on musical music and the cover of Deepfake on the platform.
