Oregon reportedly in the lead to land Penn State transfer CB AJ Harris

After a 2025 offseason that included three minor team contributions via the transfer portal in Dillon Thieneman (Purdue) Jadon Canady (Ole Miss) And Teran Johnson (Northwestern), head coach Dan Lanning and Oregon Ducks appear to be at it again as they are listed as the frontrunner to land Penn State transfer guard AJ Harris.

The 6-foot-1, 191-pound player is the No. 6 guard in the 2026 transfer portal and the No. 94 overall player as he has had two standout seasons with the team. Nittany Lions.

Harris was a five-star recruit in the 2023 class as he committed to Georgia and appeared in seven games as a true freshman. He then transferred to Penn State and made an immediate impact, being named to the All-Big Ten third team as a sophomore in 2024 and earning All-Big Ten honorable mention as a junior in 2025.

He started all but one of his 27 games for the Nittany Lions and totaled 81 tackles, six passes defensed and one interception over two seasons.

According to On3's Steve Wiltfong and Pete Nakos, Indiana Hoosiers And Missouri Tigers stand out in terms of the number of players along with the Ducks.

But, as they both believe, Ducks are the number one frontrunner to get Harris.

With Johnson and Canady gone, Lanning may want to add experienced talent rather than true freshmen. Brandon Finney Jr. In Harris, who has proven he can compete at a high level in the Big Ten, Lanning is looking to do just that.
