Canadian Food Inspection Agency suspended the license of a Montreal grocery and meal kit delivery service Goodfoodthe agency said in a statement Wednesday.
On Tuesday, CIFA suspended operations at Goodfood Market Corp's facility in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, but added that there were no citations related to the license suspension.
The suspension relates to part four of the Safe Food Guidelines for Canadians. CFIA This refers to “preventive controls” or measures to control food hazards.
A company spokesperson told Global News that the suspension was primarily due to procedural issues.

The suspension will be lifted “when it is determined that corrective action has been taken by the license holder,” the CFIA said, adding that if corrective action is not taken, the license could be revoked.
Goodfood was “disappointed” by the CFIA's decision, the spokesperson said.

“Our customers can be confident that our products are safe and meet high safety standards; There are no food safety issues at our site and the suspension is primarily related to procedural aspects of the license (such as addressing customer comments on certain ingredients),” Goodfood said in a statement.

Customers will be affected “minimally” as orders across the country will be delivered “with some exceptions”, the company said.
Goodfood's Calgary facility remains open and the company has asked for a review of the license suspension for the Montreal facility.
“We expect this suspension to be short-lived,” the statement said.
