Petkit Just Announced Three New Smart Devices for Your Pets

Petkit just announced three new smart pet products ahead of CES. Even though the conference doesn't start until Tuesday, the company has shared details about its upcoming devices, which will likely be released this spring. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Petkit advertises all three pet devices as “AI-powered,” and while that's become a gimmick for companies since 2023, there are some unique applications here – provided the devices actually do what Petkit says.

Purobot Crystal Duo litter tray

Petkit says the Purobot Crystal Duo is the first open-top litter box equipped with artificial intelligence, and that Purobot uses this technology to detect health conditions. This device features an AI-powered 720p camera that tracks your cat's bowel movements as well as her litter box behavior. Purobot tracks things like stool consistency and urine pH, as well as “vocalizations,” and records everything in the Petkit app. If you have any concerns, you can show any of these results to your veterinarian.

Petkit says Purobot uses crystal debris to absorb urine and dehydrate waste to combat odors. The company says users can wait 30 days before they need to empty the contents of the litter box, which also comes with disposable trays. The company plans to launch Purobot in July on both Amazon and the official Petkit website.

Eversweet Ultra Water Dispenser

Petkit's new water dispenser also uses an AI-powered camera to track health habits, only this time using your pet's “hydration habits.” The device comes with a 1080p camera with a 140-degree wide viewing angle that tracks your pet while he drinks, even in the dark. Eversweet supports facial recognition for multiple pets, theoretically allowing you to track the drinking habits of specific pets from the same device.

The dispenser comes with a five-liter reservoir, which Petkit claims is enough for two full weeks of drinking water for one pet. The device senses when water is low and fills the bowl when necessary, passing through an “antibacterial filter cube” to prevent bacterial growth. Any “waste” water is not recirculated through the dispenser but is instead separated, so pets should always have fresh water while the tank is full.

Petkit says Eversweet Ultra could launch in April, although that's just an estimate. It will also be available on both Amazon and the official Petkit website.

Yumshare Daily Holiday

Perhaps Petkit's biggest announcement is the Yumshare Daily Feast, an automatic feeder that works with wet food. This feeder can dispense fresh food for cats and dogs on a personalized schedule while tracking your pet's eating habits to provide “helpful food insights.” This data comes in part from the feeder's built-in 1080p AI camera with a 140-degree wide-angle view. It also supports facial recognition for multiple pets.

What are your thoughts so far?

Petkit claims that Yumshare Daily Feast supports fully automated wet feeding for seven days (keyword “automated”). The machine automatically opens each package of food, and each portion is “kept within the freshness window.” This means that if your pet doesn't finish eating, the device will pick up the leftovers and use ultraviolet light (specifically UVC) to sanitize before delivering the next portion.

Petkit estimates that the company will release Yumshare Daily Feast on both Amazon and the official Petkit website in April.

As with any new products, we'll have to wait until reviewers can do some hands-on testing before deciding whether these devices can actually achieve what they claim. However, if Petkit's products prove to be up to par, they could offer some legitimate benefits to pet owners. A wet feeder can really be suitable for those who have to leave their cat for long periods of time. Purobot and Eversweet can also provide some important health information before your vet visit: If you see reports that your cat is crying while using the litter box or not drinking as much water as usual, you can get ahead of a health problem by notifying your veterinarian in advance.
