“What Kind of Joke Are We All Living in Now?” │ Exclaim!

Jack White has become a fairly regular target “damn fascist” The Trump administration and their penchant for rage-inciting musicians, even in the form of using unauthorized snippets of his music in disgusting ICE commercials or respond promptly to any public criticism of the government via some sassy intern eager to prove they can name three songs (and use them as shoddy puns).

The latest violation is that Tennessee Congressman Tim Burchett reposted an AI-generated video of White saying, “Don’t even think about listening to my music, you fascists.”

White himself took to Instagram to comment on the incident, asking: “Can you believe that a US Congressman, that's right, CONGRESSMAN (my staff no less), once a sacred and respected position in our society, would repost an AI-generated video containing a false comment that I never said or refuted (without researching what I might add) and, like a 10 year old on the playground, added to it an attempt to insult my appearance view? What kind of joke are we? Is everyone living now?

“It’s very sad how awkward our leadership has become. I so wish the average American conservative could just for one short moment talk to any smart people in other countries of the world and really see what a joke our government (and by proxy, our country) has become,” he continued, later saying he still believes there will come a time “when none of these right-wingers will admit to being part of this cult from this period of time. All the MAGA hats will be in landfills and real intelligent and honorable leadership will take their place.”

White added: “Let's remember the highly educated and eloquent leaders like John Kennedy, Roosevelt, MLK, from American history, because when I look around now, I wonder if half of these so-called representatives ever read the constitution to which they swore allegiance.”
