BTS Announces First Album in Nearly Four Years Coming in Spring

BTS fans are dreaming of spring, and not just because of the current winter weather. The start of the new year brought news from Korean media that the group would be releasing a new album on March 20, their first in nearly four years.

The highly anticipated album will be BTS's first since “Proof,” a June 2022 release that was followed by the group's long hiatus. During this period, individual members completed their mandatory military service in South Korea and recorded numerous solo projects.

This news was published in newspapers in the group's homeland. BigHit confirmed these reports with a post on its Korean-language X account.

Prior to the official announcement, the group members had already reached out to fans directly with the release date by sending letters with handwritten messages to the homes of some ARMY members with a target date of “2026.3.20.”

Among the messages, RM wrote that he had been “waiting for this moment more desperately than anyone.” Said Jin: “I welcomed you all as soloists in 2023 and 2024, but finally I can welcome you as part of the team again.” J-Hope wrote, “Finally the year has come where we will all be together with you!!” Jungkook said, “Please take care of us this year too.”

BTS also gathered to take part in the New Year's countdown on Weverse.

A world tour is also expected to be announced soon.
