Enzo Maresca considering his future at Chelsea Football Club — reports

Enzo Maresca, who has won just one of his last seven Premier League games, missed the post-match press conference on Tuesday night, citing illness. Unsurprisingly, this appears to have been a fairly transparent attempt to cover up the story. Somewhat surprisingly, the hidden story was apparently not that Chelsea were contemplating Maresca's future, but that Maresca himself was contemplating his own future at the club – and may have been prepared to leave at the cost of millions in the process.

At least that's the story from club Ben Jacobs, who argues that although Chelsea “no plans” To sack the head coach after a disastrous month, Maresca continues to feel unsupported and undervalued and is “struggling to work under certain conditions” that exist at the club.

Other reports, e.g. from BBC, Telegraphor Guardian paint a very similar picture, and it appears the rift between head coach and management has become quite wide. The disagreements with the club's management, which were hinted at in these “worst 48 hours” in the comments, are not only real, but also, apparently, very noticeable. The latest report calls it a total collapse, and there's usually no coming back from it, no matter whose last straw it was.

So, as we say goodbye to 2025, we may not only say hello to 2026…
