Golden Knights well-represented for Team Canada at the Olympics

Team Canada will see a healthy Vegas Golden Knights lineup in the Maple Leaf.

It was announced Wednesday that forwards Mitch Marner and Mark Stone and defenseman Shea Theodore have been selected to represent Team Canada at the Milan 2026 Winter Games in Cortina in February.

All three are representing Team Canada for the first time at the Olympics, and the first time NHL players are participating since the 2014 Games in Sochi.

All three also represented Canada during the Four Nations match in February, with Marner receiving the main assist in the final game against the USA to win the tournament.

In his first season in Vegas, Marner has already made a positive impression. His 40 points in 37 games are second on the team behind Jack Eichel, and he is the fastest player in franchise history to reach that milestone. Marner also holds the team lead in assists (31) and plus/minus rating (+9).

Golden Knights captain Mark Stone will provide the Canadians with leadership and excellent two-way play. Despite his injuries, Stone continued to produce results, scoring 30 points and a +8 rating. His 1.43 points per game currently ranks fifth among all NHL skaters.

The injury hasn't shaken Canada's confidence in Theodore, and a defenseman who can move pucks will be a boon to their defense. Theodore currently leads all Golden Knights defensemen with 20 points and a team-high 24:01 in average ice time. He finished last season with 57 points in 67 games.

The three join head coach Bruce Cassidy and former Golden Knights bench coach Peter DeBoer, as well as former teammate and current Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson.

They won't be the only Golden Knights players heading to Milan in February. Eichel and Jonas Rondbjerg have already been selected to represent Team USA and Team Denmark, respectively, while William Karlsson likely will not represent Team Sweden despite being selected. Noah Hanifin (USA) and Tomas Hertl (Czech Republic) are also expected to represent their countries.
