Thanks to everyone who filled out our “Hello Canada, what smartphone are you using? survey. More than 2000 people responded to us.
Our research reveals some facts about smartphone use in Canada. Only one person who completed the survey has a Blackberry device, which makes sense considering we haven't seen a new Blackberry in a while, but it still breaks my Canadian heart. It was Blackberry key2 in particular, which is not even produced by BlackBerry. 😭
Google leads the pack with nearly 585 Pixel device owners. 69 (cute) was something like Pixel 10 (10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro Fold), while 155 had something like a Pixel 9 (9, 9a, 9 Pro, 9 Fold), and over 185 had a Pixel 8. That being said, 18 owned a Pixel 8a, 46 had an 8 Pro, and 122 owned a Pixel 8—the winner.
About 550 people who completed the survey reported owning an iPhone. The oldest iPhone on the list was the iPhone 5, which was owned by only one person. The most popular iPhone is the 15 Pro series, but the 16 Pro performed almost similarly. Surprisingly, 15 people already have an iPhone Air, and another 84 have the 17 and 17 Pro. Interestingly, one person said they have both the 17 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is a bit much if they paid for both phones.
Samsung did pretty well, with about 550 people who completed the survey owning a Samsung device. About 120 people said they owned the S24 series, another 120 owned the S25, 50 owned the foldable and another 50 owned the foldable. Surprisingly, there are a few Note phones on the list and about 40 people with A series devices.
Other devices on the list include Motorola (Razr is at the top of the list), OnePlus is on the list, and OnePlus 12 is at the top of the list.
It was interesting to see some brands like Ulefone, Umidigi, Realme, Poco, Doogee, Xiaomi that aren't sold often in Canada and great to see people selling phones that haven't come to Canada in years like Sony, Huawei, someone even had an LG Velvet.
Specifically, 2,173 people took part in our survey; however, not everyone completed it. Additionally, some results did not contain enough information, such as those that only said “Samsung.” This survey was available on MobileSyrup And Daily Hive from October 21, 2025.
