Stardew Valley: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Update Detailed, European Release Coming Soon

Some interesting news for Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition released with unexpected launch on Christmas Day, taking many fans by surprise. While the release was exciting, the update faced a few problems early on. Creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone quickly acknowledged these issues and assured players that fixes were in the works. A new update has been published along with clarifications regarding the European release of the game.

Players outside of the US who can't find the Switch 2 Edition on their local online store just yet don't need to worry. Barone confirmed that he is deliberately delaying the release in regions such as Europe until the next patch is ready. This upcoming update, which is said to be coming soon, will fix a crafting bug that can cause items to be lost, as well as improve mouse controls on the Switch 2 version. To avoid further issues, the European launch will only begin once this patch is fully implemented.

Those who want to try out the updated version immediately can still download the game from the US eShop using a US Nintendo Account. The download size is approximately 2.3GB and is available as a free update for players who already own Stardew Valley on Switch. New players can purchase the game for $14.99 USD or regional equivalent.

Barone also warned current Switch 2 players about the crafting issue. Creating certain recipes may unintentionally require additional items. He advises players to empty their inventory except for required materials and avoid using the workbench when crafting affected items. Here is a list of items you should be careful with when crafting:

  • Blue Grass Starter
  • Heavy oven
  • Luxurious worm bin
  • Fish smokehouse
  • Mushroom log
  • Speed-Gro
  • Treasure Totem
  • Blessing Statue
  • Deluxe bait
  • Calling bait
  • Moss soup

Beyond these issues, Switch 2 Edition introduces advanced features including four-player split-screen, eight-player online multiplayer, and GameShare support, allowing even non-owners to join in the game.
