Blake Coleman, an interesting player for the Canadiens in the eyes of Arpon Basu

In recent weeks, the Canadiens acquired Philippe Danault.

Kent Hughes picked him up in Los Angeles to improve the center line… and we can expect the general manager to make further moves before the trade deadline. We know he would like to give his club as many tools as possible to reach the playoffs.

And to do that, it might be ideal to get a guy from deep who can shuffle and play an energy role.

There's one guy in particular who could fill that role in Montreal, according to Arpon Basu.(Athletic).

And that guy is Blake Coleman.

We're talking about a player who isn't afraid to use his body to frustrate the opposition and is also capable of scoring goals. He scored 30 goals in 23-24 and is up to 23 goals this season.

I really like this idea.

Coleman can hit, he can be used for almost anything… and his $4.9 million per season contract (running through the 26-27 campaign) isn't too onerous either.

I really feel like he could be an interesting target for the Canadiens because Martin St. Louis also likes that style of player.

And with the Flames (very likely) missing the playoffs, I find it hard to believe we're talking about an untouchable player in Calgary.

The Canadiens have what it takes to dance with the Flames and get a deal done… and it might also help Calgary replenish their bank of prospects and draft picks.

Again, an interesting idea. The Canadiens need to add some durability his lineup, and Coleman can really help with that on the ice.

Blake Coleman in Montreal…what do you think, even if it's just an idea?

After a while

– Good.

– Who will win the Super Bowl?

– Things are not going well for Jake DeBrusk in Vancouver.

– I like it.
