President Donald Trump welcomed Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Sunday and expressed his view that Russian President Vladimir Putin is serious about peace.
In the video published According to White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, Trump greeted Zelensky and shook his hand. As the two stand next to each other, a reporter can be heard asking if Trump thinks “Putin is serious about peace this time.”
“Mr. President, do you think Putin is serious about peace this time?” – asks the reporter.
“Yes,” Trump replied. “I think so. I think they both are.”
CNN reported that while Trump said “negotiators are getting 'closer' to an agreement ending” the war between Russia and Ukraine, he also said there were “thorny questions”:

Trump also revealed mail on Truth Social reported that he “had a good and very productive phone conversation with President Putin.”
“I just had a good and very productive call with President Putin of Russia before my meeting today at 1 p.m. with President Zelensky of Ukraine,” Trump said.
Simon Kent of Breitbart News reported Zelensky said he would meet with Trump “before the New Year” as part of efforts to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
“We have agreed on a high-level meeting with President Trump in the near future,” Zelensky said in a post on social media. “A lot can be decided before the New Year.”
