- Samsung is reportedly testing a 20,000mAh battery for the phone.
- The increase in power is provided by a silicon-carbon compound.
- It is unlikely that it will be ready for the Galaxy S26 series.
Battery capacity is one of the key features that most of us look at when purchasing one of the best smartphonesAnd Samsung is rumored to be working on a significant update in this department, although it won't arrive in time for its next flagship phones.
According to tipsters @phonefuturist And @SPYGO19726 (by using Wccftech), Samsung is testing a dual-cell silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of up to 20,000 mAh. That's four times the capacity of the 5,000mAh battery inside. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
As the name suggests, silicon-carbon batteries differ from conventional lithium-ion batteries used in modern phones in their choice of materials. The silicon-carbon composite anode provides much higher performance without adding too much volume.
We've already heard rumors about this silicon-carbon technology, including in leaks from earlier this year this suggests that next-generation batteries could be ready for the Galaxy S26 series – although that's unlikely right now.

Some additional information about the dimensions of a two-layer element. Cell 1 (primary): Capacity: 12,000 mAh Thickness: 6.3 mm Dimensions: 10 cm × 6.8 cm Cell 2 (secondary/competitive unit): Capacity: 8,000 mAh Thickness: 4 mm Dimensions: 10 cm × 6.8 cm 8000 mAh increased from 4 mm to 7.2 mm. https://t.co/xVRA4Th3HkDecember 25, 2025
While the 20,000mAh battery currently being tested certainly sounds promising, it's unclear exactly when it will be ready for mass production. According to this leak, there are still swelling issues that need to be addressed.
Samsung knows what battery technology is go completely wrongand he won't want to repeat these mistakes again. Both Samsung and its competitors will wait until the silicon-carbon upgrade is fully ready before releasing it.
With that in mind, don't expect much from the updates for the Galaxy S26 phones due out in February. Based on recent leaksFor example, we may see a slight increase in battery capacity to 5200 mAh for the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra model.
Still, it's encouraging to know that significant improvements in battery capacity are on the way—and within the next year or two, we may have the privilege of using phones that last two or three days on a charge.
