Heated rivalry this is a TV show that every which we are talking about right now, but not everyone has something good to say.
During a recent episode of Deuxmoi's Two Yu podcast, the show's (admittedly anonymous) host criticized the hit Crave-slash-HBO Max romantic drama, saying it lacked a plot and featured poor acting.
Obviously, these are somewhat strong words, given that the series relies heavily on two romantic leads: Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams – and in interviews DiversityShow creator Jacob Tierney responded directly to the criticism.
“This show wouldn’t work if any of this was true,” he said. “I mean, it just wouldn't happen. No one would care if the acting was bad or if there was no plot. I think this show really demands your attention. If you're glib and on the phone all the time or want to ignore it, then God bless and do whatever you want.”
“But you have to be there in the moment if you want to watch. This is a show that has a lot of connections between the lines. Much depends on behavior. A lot depends on the viewing. And if you have neither the attention span nor the interest, then I will be very honest with you.”
“I don’t care how Dexmois criticizes the show,” he continued. “I literally don’t even know who these people are. I don't care what they think about anything. But I understand that from what I've read a few times now, people are saying that this is a show that is not a co-watching experience. You can't be on your phone. If you want what it does, you have to pay attention to it. Everything is fine”.
“But I think at some point the show speaks for itself and the reaction to it speaks for itself, and there's no way these boys would be on the receiving end of the attention they get if they weren't good. The papa bear in me obviously doesn't like comments like that because I know how hard they work. I think they're bloody amazing. But we also live in a time where everyone gets their opinion and then can voice it on any platform, and that's why I understand, keep doing your job, Dexmua!
Well then! This is definitely a powerful way to clap back.
