In the future, when you use AI, it could be powered by supersonic jet engines. Boom Supersonic recently announced Superpower turbines for AI data centers, which are slightly modified versions of the Symphony engines that Boom makes for its aircraft.
Engine manufacturers typically produce power turbines, and data center operators already turning to jet engine technology to drive the artificial intelligence boom. Boom CEO Blake Scholl says his company's supersonic engine technology offers distinct advantages over traditional power turbines.
Boom Superpower turbines are designed to power artificial intelligence data centers.
Boom recently deleted his Experimental aircraft XB-1 and is currently developing the full-scale Overture aircraft, which the company says will begin carrying passengers in about five years. Superpower could be a bridge between these aircraft, raising money to fund Overture and giving Boom the opportunity to test its engine technology on the ground before taking to the skies.
