Brooklyn Nets were quietly one of the best teams in the NBA in December. They have a 7-3 record on the month, which is impressive for a team that sits in 13th place in the Eastern Conference standings. They had a 3-16 record before December, so getting to 10-19 after such a terrible start is impressive work.

Networks Head coach Jordi Fernandez has done an excellent job leading this team to success. Michael Porter Jr. was excellent as the star player, especially in the absence of Cam Thomas. Against Minnesota TimberwolvesThomas is finally back and made sure to celebrate his return with a good game.
Thomas' return inspires Nets to play better
After 20 games on the sidelines, Thomas finally returned to the active roster. He had a hamstring strain so it took him a while to fully recover considering it was a lower body injury.

After the game, Thomas' praise was well deserved as he proved he could continue to be one of the top scorers. He did so with a minute restriction and came off the bench. Since they were playing against the Timberwolves, it was an even more impressive result for Brooklyn.

“It was great to see him on the court tonight. He produces elite performance at all three levels that we need as a team. I already knew what he was going to do, I saw it every day since I came here, we came together. It was great to have him on the court with us tonight.” Day'Ron Sharpe said after the big win over Minnesota..
“We have two elite scorers in Mike and Connecticut, and we continue to play defense the same way we always have, the sky’s the limit.”
Going forward, Fernandez and the Nets front office have a good foundation. Porter enters trade talks as one of the league's most attractive players. They could pull the trigger on the deal and get valuable assets back. However, it might be worth at least considering sticking with the same lineup.

They performed well in December, and if they can maintain that form throughout the season, Sharpe is correct in his assessment of the Nets' potential. It will be difficult to ignore trade talks for Porter, but the Nets have options they didn't have before.
