Everyone needs a friend, and this is especially true Satisfactorilywhere you are against all nature and capitalism. Luckily, the Lizard Dog will keep you company. And even if you prefer to spend time alone, there is a good reason to keep a pen of lizards with you.
Dog lizards are short, friend-sized lizards with canine-like features. They are similar in build to beagles, but are covered in scales and have armor on their backs. Untamed lizard dogs are completely harmless and will quickly run away if approached unless done carefully.
To tame the Dog Lizard, you'll need some Pale Berries, which are raspberry-like fruits that can be found throughout the map. If you already have Blade Runners at this point, unequip them before trying to tame one of these little guys, and switch the movement speed to slow (Shift key). Find Doggo and wait until he turns around and starts looking at you. At this point, open your inventory, throw the Pale Berry on the ground in front of you, and wait. Doggo will slowly approach you to eat the Pale Berry. Be sure not to move during this process. Once Doggo has completely eaten the Pale Berry, slowly approach it. You should be prompted to pet it (E). If you managed to pet him, well done – you have a new friend.
However, lizard dogs are slow and not very smart. You don't want to take these guys on a study because they can't keep up faster than walking speed. They can also be killed by poisonous gas or hostile creatures, although they are immune to radiation. They also have a tendency to stroll off the nearest cliff.
To protect them, you need to take them straight home and build a pen for them. Make sure there is a foundation underneath the pen, otherwise they may disappear. If you get creative with the builders, you can still provide them with a lawn to play in with a hidden foundation underneath to keep them from disappearing. They can't jump and their maximum step height is one metre, so they can't climb very high, meaning your pen walls may be quite low.
Now that you have Doggo and Doggo Park, you'll want to check them out from time to time. Each Doggo has an inventory of one slot and generates one from the list at random intervals. 46 potential itemsranging from pig remains to energy slugs and nuclear waste. With a pen full of Doggo, you can create quite a lot of items in a short amount of time, and some of them can be quite rare. There's currently no way to automatically farm these items or breed Lizard Dogs, so it will still be a manual process, but a Purple Power Slug or Nuke Nobelisk is nothing to sneeze at.
