Heise made it into the left faceoff circle and then fired a shot just under the crossbar to give Frost (3-1-1-2) the win and leave Vancouver (2-1-1-4) winless on the road.

Abby Hustler also scored for Minnesota and Maddie Rooney made 27 saves.

Izzy Daniel scored the only goal in Vancouver. Emerance Maschmeyer stopped 33 shots.

Taylor Heise scores the game-winning goal in overtime against the Goldeneyes.

Taylor Hayes scores his first goal of the season in a 2-1 overtime win over the Vancouver Goldeneyes during the PWHL Takeover Tour stop in Edmonton.

With 10,645 mostly fanatical Vancouver fans cheering for 52 minutes of scoreless hockey after two goals in the first three minutes of the game, the GoldenEyes had a golden opportunity to go on the power play at 15:04 of the third period. In a match with one of the worst teams in the league in terms of penalties, Vancouver failed to get a single shot on goal.

The Golden Eyes needed Maschmeyer to shine in the final 15 seconds. Minnesota's Britta Curl-Salemme tested it with a rising shot, and Frost crashed the net while unsuccessfully trying to get the puck into the net.

The game started ominously for Vancouver. Gabby Rosenthal took the delayed penalty just 54 seconds, and Minnesota needed just 24 seconds to capitalize. Hustler fired a shot from the slot past Maschmeyer and completed a series of crisp passes that left her wide open.

The Golden Eyes responded less than two minutes later when Daniel backhanded the ball past Rooney.

A shootout allowed Minnesota to control most of the first half of the period, and only a few sharp saves by Maschmeyer, a couple of key blocks by her teammates and some erratic shots by Minnesota kept the score tied.

After surviving three penalties in a row, Vancouver found its game and turned the situation in its favor. Despite heavy attacking pressure and a number of great scoring chances, the Golden Eyes were unable to break the deadlock.

The second period was statistically uneventful: there was only one penalty and no goals. Both teams created plenty of shooting opportunities, but neither was able to find any links from either goalie.

The best scoring chances came in the last six minutes. Minnesota's Katie Kroll made a long pass and made a short break that Maschmeyer stopped. In the final seconds, Vancouver forward Mikela Cava made a quick break from the right flank, but Rooney blocked her shot from the left.

Playing their sixth straight away game, the Golden Eyes had several opportunities to take the lead in the third period, including Sophie Jacques' try seven minutes into the game. She followed her first shot from the left circle and grabbed the ball, but couldn't get the puck past Rooney.

3rd of 16 tour stops

The game was the third of 16 stops on the PWHL tour this season and the first of two visits to Edmonton, with the second game scheduled for April 7, 2026.

The Takeover Tour consists of 16 regular season games at neutral sites played outside of the league's current cities. Saturday's game was the Tour's second stop in Edmonton. Last season, the Ottawa-Toronto game drew a sold-out crowd of 17,518 people to Rogers Place.
