ICE Agents Arrest Man on Christmas Eve—and Then Steal His Groceries

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in Yakima, Washington, spent Christmas Eve arresting a man in a Walmart parking lot, even taking groceries he'd already purchased for himself.

In the video, four ICE officers wearing masks and tactical gear can be seen surrounding a man with a car full of food as he loads it into his car. A woman watching the arrest asked ICE if she could take down the phone number of the man's wife to notify her that her husband had been detained. ICE agents refused.

“No, I think he should have obeyed,” the agent said.

The agents then begin dividing up the man's groceries as a passerby tells them that they previously detained and deported her husband. “I fucking hate these motherfuckers,” says the woman filming the video as they drive away, presumably to the nearby Yakima ICE detention center.

Masked men kidnapping people and looting their food are unfortunately a common sight as the first year of President Trump's mass deportation campaign comes to an end.

“Fire their asses and arrest them for theft. If DHS had any decency, that's what would happen, but it doesn't,” political scientist Norman Ornstein wrote. “Of course, when you have a leader who took a $50,000 bribe in a bag of kava, it’s not surprising.”
