MONTREAL — Elaine Chuly made 29 saves as the Toronto Scepter defeated the Montreal Victoire 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Bell Center in Women's Professional Hockey League action.

It was Chuly's first start against Montreal after spending his first two years in the league as the Victoires' backup goaltender.

Jesse Compher and Daryl Watts scored for Toronto (4-0-0-2). Chuli moved to 3-0-0-0 as the season progressed.

Abby Roque scored for Montreal (3-1-0-3), which lost its second straight game after a four-game winning streak. Anne-Renee Debien made 23 saves.

Compher opened the scoring for Toronto when she got lost in coverage just in front of the net with 1:45 left in the first period. It was her third goal of the season.

Roque tied the game with 14:40 left in the second period, finishing off a pass from Caitlin Willoughby in the slot. It was her third goal of the season.

Toronto retook the lead with less than five minutes left in the second period when Watts took advantage of a turnover at her blue line to go 2 on 1. She kept the puck and fired a shot past Debian.

With this victory, the Scepters took sole possession of second place in the PWHL. Montreal pulled the goalie two minutes before he tried to tie the game.

Toronto was without Renata Fast, the 2025 PWHL Defensive Player of the Year, for the third straight game as she deals with a lower-body injury. Defender Ellie Munro also missed the game with a lower body injury.

Scepter: Despite missing two of their top four defensemen due to injury, Toronto was able to pull off a big road win, making it their first win in three games against Montreal.
