MONTREAL (AP) — Elaine Chuly made 29 saves as the Toronto Scepter defeated the Montreal Victoire 2-1 on Saturday at the Bell Centre.
It was Chuly's first start against Montreal after spending his first two years in the league as the Victoires' backup goaltender.
Jesse Compher and Daryl Watts scored for Toronto. Chuli moved to 3-0-0-0 as the season progressed.
Abby Roque scored for Montreal, which lost its second straight game after a four-game winning streak. Anne-Renee Debien made 23 saves.
Compher opened the scoring for Toronto when she got lost in coverage just in front of the net with 1:45 left in the first period. It was her third goal of the season.
Roque tied the game at 5:20 of the second period, finishing off a pass from Caitlin Willoughby in the slot. It was her third goal of the season.
Toronto retook the lead with less than five minutes left in the second period when Watts took advantage of a turnover at her blue line to go 2 on 1. She kept the puck and fired a shot past Debian.
With this victory, the Scepters took sole possession of second place in the PWHL. Montreal pulled the goalie two minutes before they tied the game.
Toronto was without 2025 PWHL Player of the Year Renata Fast for the third straight game. She dropped out with a lower body injury. Defender Ellie Munro also missed the game with a lower body injury.
Despite missing two of its top four defensemen, Toronto pulled off a big road win, its first in three games against Montreal.
This was the fifth PWHL game at the Bell Center and the second meeting at the arena between Montreal and Toronto in the PWHL. Toronto won both games.
