Monolith Soft released two games in a year
As 2025 comes to a close, many game studios are starting to wrap up projects at the end of the year, and Japanese developer Monolith Soft has done the same. The studio, widely known for its work on the Xenoblade Chronicles series during the Nintendo Switch era, took a moment on social media to reflect on the past year and thank fans for their continued support.
Check out the translated message:
“Today is Monolith Soft's last day of work this year. Two games were released this year: Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition and Mario Kart World, which we worked on as a subcontractor. All of our employees will continue to work hard into next year. We look forward to your continued support.”

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition was released earlier in March of this year and has since received compatibility updates to support the Switch 2. The release helped bring new attention to the expansive sci-fi RPG, introducing it to a wider audience while improving its technical specs. Meanwhile, Monolith Soft also played a key role in World of Mario Kartwhere she was responsible for the development of several areas of the game, as well as character design.
In addition to these releases, the studio also continues to actively celebrate its heritage. Earlier this month, Monolith Soft celebrated the eighth anniversary of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 by sharing amazing new work of art. The developer also published an interview that talks about his many years of involvement in the Zelda series and gives insight into his creative contributions. With 2026 on the horizon, Monolith Soft looks poised to continue building on its strong reputation.
