Startup HubKey is seeking funding for its latest device, a compact docking station that combines a circular controller and a multifunctional hub.
The new model, called HubKey Pro 2, builds on the success of its earlier crowdfunded hub project by offering a combination of customizable keys and advanced connectivity.
The dock, available right now on Kickstarter, includes four programmable keys and 11 ports, including USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, Ethernet, SD/TF card slots, 3.5mm audio jack, and 100W PD. It reduces dependency on keys and works on Windows, macOS, Linux and even Steam Deck.
Dual display support
One of the most requested updates was improved image output. HubKey Pro 2 now features two HDMI ports supporting 4K at 60Hz so users can use two high-resolution displays simultaneously.
The company also introduced official drivers for the new device, allowing you to fully customize your keyboard shortcuts.
Users can choose from 170 preset shortcuts or program multiple sequential keys to suit their workflow. A special settings interface appears automatically when the docking station is connected to simplify setup.
Performance improvements in the new model include redesigned circuitry and optimized firmware for faster device recognition and more stable power delivery.
The hub supports simultaneous reading of SD and TF cards at speeds up to 480 Mbps, and the RJ45 port provides wired connections at speeds up to 2.5 Gbps.
Data transfer speeds reach up to 10Gbps through the hub's USB 3.1 ports, and the dock also supports fast charging via the Type-C PD port, keeping laptops and mobile devices powered while in use.
Additional features include customizable LED lighting that can be adjusted with a single key.
You can support HubKey Pro 2 on Kickstarter nowwith the Super Early Bird priced at $99, compared to the suggested retail price of $179. The project has so far raised $65,809 of its $1,284 goal from 593 backers with 16 more days to go.
Successful backers will have to wait a little longer, however, as delivery is not expected until March 2026.
