It's that weird period between Christmas and New Year's that some call “Twixmas,” but it doesn't look like President Trump has any plans to eat vegetables, eat leftovers, and watch movie marathons. Instead, Mar-a-Lago, the “White House of the South,” appears to be hosting two world leaders in the coming days, and securing lasting peace in both Ukraine and Gaza will be high on the agenda.
First of all, according to reportsThis will be Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who is expected to meet with Trump on Sunday. The meeting signals that real progress is being made on a potential agreement to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, as President Trump previously said he would not meet with Zelensky until a deal was close.
Zelensky teased a meeting with Trump on social media mail Friday, saying: “We have agreed to a summit meeting with President Trump in the near future. Much can be decided before the New Year. Glory to Ukraine!” The Ukrainian president noted that Trump's proposed peaceful site was “90% approved” but did not specify whether any plans were planned to be signed at the Mar-a-Lago meeting.
Trump is expected to host Zelensky at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday to try to reach an agreement on the US peace plan.

The meeting between Trump and Zelensky in Florida will cap months of meetings between Trump advisers Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who have been traveling around the world in search of peace agreements. The latter two met with Ukraine's national security adviser Rustem Umerov in Miami, and the talks were reportedly “positive and constructive.”
The Kremlin confirmed Friday that Yuri Ushakov, Russian President Vladimir Putin's top foreign policy aide, recently spoke with his American counterparts. Ahead of Sunday's meeting, one US official remarked: “We've gone as far as we can with the Russians and Ukrainians. We have made more progress in the last two weeks than we did last year. We want to kick the ball into the goal. We are moving in the right direction.”

🚨🇺🇸🇮🇱Trump and Netanyahu's meeting at Mar-a-Lago on Monday is “crucial” to the future of the Gaza deal. My story on @axios https://t.co/6mPZuJLADx

Witkoff and Kushner have also been busy on this front: They recently held talks with Egypt, Qatar and Turkey to finalize agreements that will form the basis for a phase two peace deal between Israel and Hamas, which includes Hamas giving up its weapons and Israel withdrawing its military forces.
While there are signs that the US is frustrated with what it sees as Netanyahu's slow progress on the peace process, Israeli officials say the upcoming meeting at Mar-a-Lago is a “decisive meeting.” One insider said: “Bibi is trying to convince a one-man audience. The question is whether Trump will side with him or his top advisers when it comes to Gaza. Who knows what Trump will choose?
Whether it's Kyiv or the Gaza Strip, it's clear that President Trump is determined to prove that he really means it when he says speaks he is the “president of the world.” If he succeeds, even the Nobel Committee will find it difficult to ignore him.
