In a three-way rivalry at Christmas The Denver Broncos will take on the Kansas City Chiefs. in a complete role reversal. For the previous 10 seasons, it was the Chiefs who prepared for the playoffs, while the Broncos spent most of that time watching from the sidelines. The Chiefs now have an opportunity to play the Grinch by preventing the Broncos from claiming first place and home field advantage in the AFC.
Denver (12-3) stumbled in Week 16, losing a big game to Jacksonville, leaving the No. 1 seed in the AFC likely until the final week of the season. They've already clinched a spot in the postseason; now the battle must capture first place in the AFC while facing a division rival. The last time Denver beat KC in a season series was 2014.

KC could help spoil the No. 1 seed for Denver, but that might be a stretch since the Chiefs dropped to a No. 3 quarterback after losing Patrick Mahomes and the backup. Gardner Minshew suffers several weeks of knee injuries. Chris Oladokun replaced Minshew in the loss to Tennessee. at 16 weeks.
