Saturday is for getting up early, stretching, and realizing with horror that you're too late to ask people what they'll be playing this weekend. Then, just when you've almost gotten over the initial shock, you realize with even greater horror that you didn't ask them what they were going to play for Christmas.
Oh God. Oh my god. Oh, a crime!
No, it's no use. I walked around the treehouse, knocking on doors and screaming pitifully like the remnant of a child left at boarding school over the Christmas holidays. They're all gone. At least Mark, Edwin and Jeremy left notes on their pillows.
James
When I knock on James' door, there is no answer. I turn the handle and open it easily. 'James?' I whisper. 'Are you here?'. The room is empty. I look through his drawers and find only processors, CPU fans, and a handwritten ode to a gnome named Carl.
Mark:
It's holiday time now, so I'll probably start by spending at least two days paralyzed by the sheer wealth of choice presented by suddenly having more time to play. But seriously, the latest DLC for Euro Truck Sim 2 and American Truck Sim – Nordic Horizons and Louisiana – will probably end up on my mind during the break. A little more Crusaders Kings 3 how do I hold I'm trying to deal with this this is probably a good shout, and I feel like it's another attempt to finally go through all of Morrowind, enriched with copious amounts of upcoming mods.
Ollie
The door to Ollie's room is wide open. He seemed to leave in a hurry, no doubt worried about having to cover the next big game. On his desk are framed photographs of cats from a local cat cafe. They are signed with paw prints. I'm tormented by envy.
Edwin:
This week I had my annual pre-Christmas debate about whether I should buy a new laptop that can run games like Zephon and Hell Is Us, thereby contributing to RAMNAROK and the general collapse of civilization, or should I continue to fight with my trusty Dell Thinkpad. Thinkpad won the argument when I discovered I could run Terra Invicta about this, not to mention Hollow Knight: Silk Song (which, yes, I'm still finishing), Death in the Abyss, Age of Angelina, and Labyrinth of the Demon King. Readers, my Christmas playlist is full. That said, if you know of any other recent games that can be comfortably played on an integrated graphics card, I'm all ears.
Callus
The door to Callum's room was broken open, apparently kicked from the inside. It's well known at Treehouse that when our new travel writer gets caught up in a game, he kicks his feet (and the door) in excitement. Wherever he spent Christmas, know that he left his room delighted.
Jeremiah
Guess what, everyone who has been following the long saga of our new home in these posts for the past few weeks. Our kitchen is done, bathroom tiled, leaks fixed, custom cabinetry installed, and the house is finally in the same condition it has been since we first moved in. Thus ends the first phase of the Jeremy's House cinematic universe. So this weekend I probably won't be playing any games – I'll be wrapping my wife's Christmas presents and enjoying a state of relative calm before we prepare to travel to visit my parents in the US – a process that will surely shatter all the illusions of the world. It never ends!
Julian
I'll be spending the next ten days or so with my family and away from my computer, but my dad played Age of Empires 2 hard since 1999, so I'm looking forward to watching over his shoulder as he destroys the Teutons for the thousandth time. I'll also be meeting my nieces and nephews and getting them to solve puzzles in Unboxing and maybe help out with a boss fight or two in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
And you, dear reader, what are you playing this weekend…?
