Everton have made a promising start to the 2025/26 season as the Toffees look to return to the top half of the Premier League table and a place in Europe.
Defenseman James Tarkowski summed up the year and praised his teammate James Garner for his strong performances in the engine room.

Tarkowski greeted Garner, saying (via EFK website), “Oh, he was outstanding.
“I mean, we all knew how good Jimmy was from the moment he signed here.
“He had some setbacks and long-term injuries where he missed probably two or three months of football.
“But now you see him week after week and how good he is. And you can put him anywhere.
“He can play literally any position on the field and he will play to the best of his ability.
“He is very good physically, technically outstanding, makes great decisions, influences the game both in attack and defense.
“He has everything, so we’re lucky to have him.”

Garner has been a vital cog for Everton manager David Moyes, featuring in all 17 Premier League matches so far, scoring and creating five big chances.
The 24-year-old has 1.4 interceptions, 2.2 tackles and 2.1 clearances per game, winning 58% of his aerial duels and 59% of his ground duels.
He returns the ball 4.4 times per 90 games.
Garner keeps the Merseyside club's affairs running at a double pivot and has demonstrated his remarkable versatility by filling in at right-back when Moyes needs him.
An England call-up should soon be on the horizon for Garner if he keeps up his performance.
The Toffees are also reportedly trying to tie him down to a new contract, and rightfully so after his recent performances. He could be the cornerstone of this team for years to come.
