Step into the beautiful world of Arie: Moonlight Prayer
PhantomWorks today released a free demo of its anime-inspired 3D adventure game ARIE: Moonprayer on Steam. In addition to launching the demo, the development team also shared a deeper understanding of the game's world-building and character storytelling.
ARYA: Moonprayer is a short story-driven adventure set in a quiet but strikingly apocalyptic world. As the moon slowly falls and the end of the world approaches, players journey across the last remaining island, experiencing a landscape shaped by loss and enduring beauty. By performing “Moon Songs” that resonate with those who have passed on, players uncover fragments of memories, history, and emotions scattered throughout the land.
Taking inspiration from role-playing games known for their rich storylines and expansive 3D environments, as well as non-combat adventure games, the game prioritizes atmosphere and emotional storytelling over action. The protagonist's mystical instrument, Diqin, plays a central role in allowing players to interact with the environment. This creates a multi-layered audio experience that supports the sad yet serene tone of the game.
The demo, covering Chapter 1, introduces players to the Malus Escarpment and parts of Stern Bay on Cerul Island. Players can explore the destroyed landscapes, learn about the world and the main characters through relics, murals, and event scenarios, and begin rebuilding parts of Luner Village. The demo also features basic ruin puzzles and four playable Moonsongs spread across two regions, each changing between day and night.
In the full version, ARIE: Moonprayer will be expanded to include additional areas of the island of Caerul. There will be more side stories, advanced puzzle mechanics, new Moon Songs, and a complete restoration of Luner Village. Progress from the demo will be carried over to the full game. Players can also join the official Discord server to share their feedback.
