James Comer Prepares to Make Political Life Very Difficult for Tim Walz, and I Am So Here for It – RedState

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) has many embarrassing distinctions from a political standpoint, not the least of which is attending one of the few vice presidential debates people actually remember, when J.D. Vance completely cleaned his watch in October 2024 without breaking a sweat.

After his humiliation the following month, you'd think Walz would lay low in 2025 to avoid further national disgrace. But not only did he not do so, but he is also running for re-election as governor in 2026. Even more surprising, Walz is rumored to be considering a run for president in 2028, although He said in July that a 2028 offer for him was not on the table.

He's definitely given every indication that he's interested, between tour of the town hall he did so earlier this year in congressional districts won by Republicans, repeated comparisons of President Trump to authoritarian dictators and even once a hint that he wishes for unreasonable Lincoln Project Rumors about Trump's death that circulated around the Labor Day holiday turned out to be true.

But here we are nearing the end of 2025, and Tim Walz is no longer laughing, thanks in part to the wave fraud scandals in his state, all of which happened under his watch and amounted to not just millions of stolen taxpayer money, but billions.

Needless to say, Minnesota and Walz are the focus of the Trump administration, with the Justice Department continuing its investigations and charges and the House Oversight Committee extension your own probe:

A widening federal investigation into a massive fraud scandal in Minnesota is attracting whistleblowers, mayors and state lawmakers amid growing scrutiny of state officials, House Oversight Chairman James Comer told Fox News on Tuesday.

“The walls are crumbling in front of Tim Walz,” Comer, R-Ky., said on “America's Newsroom.”

“This huge amount of fraud is affecting every Minnesotan because they are having to cut services because a lot of the money for social programs has been wasted and defrauded by this Somali population.”

Comer added in an interview with Fox News that “one of the things [Walz has] said that in the last 48 hours the Oversight Committee doesn't have to worry about this investigation, that it will take care of it. Nobody in America believes this… We're going to investigate this.”

Here's more from this segment:

In another interview with Comer nailed it like The Somali community in Minnesota, which is at the center of some fraud investigations, has become critical of the political aspirations of Democrats in the state, a major reason why the scandals went undetected for so long:

Those calls came to nothing, Comer said, because Democratic leaders feared the political consequences of their actions. He said Minnesota's Somali community plays a central role in the Democratic election math in the state. “This Somali population has become a huge part of the Democratic base in Minnesota,” Comer said. “That's the key to the business model for the Democratic Party's success in Minnesota — and on a presidential scale — to win the state of Minnesota and get the Electoral College votes.”
