New post on Topics from host Abhishek Yadav reveals that OnePlus is gearing up to launch another phone for global markets.
Codenamed “Volkswagen”, the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor (designed for high-end and mid-range devices) and will feature a similar architecture to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 from two years ago. Android authority notes that the architecture may provide clues as to where this device fits in the OnePlus lineup.
The new device will feature a 165Hz refresh rate display like the OnePlus 15 and 15R. The display will also have a 1.5K resolution, identical to the 15 and 15R displays. Interestingly, the device will also reportedly come with a dual rear camera setup.
The phone has a 9000 mAh battery and supports 80W fast wired charging. To add some context, OnePlus 15 (which we gave the “Best Battery” award at the Canadian Smartphone Awards 2025) only has a 7300 mAh battery with a similar 80W charging speed.
Questions have been raised as to why the device is codenamed after the German automaker, but the most likely explanation is that the name “Volkswagen” translates to “people's car.”
As for the real name of the device, there are some speculations surrounding it. Android authority indicates that it could be the OnePlus Nord 6 as Yadav hinted to X that this could be truebut nothing is set in stone yet. Interestingly, the Nord 5 does feature a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a 144Hz display, and a 6,800mAh battery, so the upgrade makes sense.
There is also OnePlus Turbo rumored with the same 165Hz display and the same chipset as the rumored OnePlus Volkswagen – with new post on X from host Unwin shows battery characteristics similar to Volkswagen. In the same post, Unwin also spotted a phone with model number PLU110 (Turbo) listed on Geekbench, which comes with the same battery and a 9,000mAh chip.
How Android authority and Anvin noted that the OnePlus Turbo will likely remain a China-exclusive product with a new name for global release. Turbo will be presented in January 2026.
