NFL reporter Jane Slater responds to death rumor: ‘Glitch in the matrix’

Last week there was a rumor on the Internet that longtime NFL reporter died at the age of 40.

Jane Slater Newssupposed death on social media, but she quickly shut it down.

User X posted a screenshot of a post on Facebook showing Slater in black and white with the caption “1980-2025” saying she died at 40. Slater, 45, was born in 1980, but the years listed in the post mean she died at either 44 or 45.

“The veteran reporter who covered the Dallas Cowboys for more than a decade has died at age 40 after a tragic domestic violence incident, leaving behind a 5-year-old child. Her years of dedicated work, as well as the heartbreaking circumstances of her death, have left loyal fans stunned, devastated and praying for her and her family,” the statement said.

A user asked Slater, “Are you dead??”

“I don't think so? But does this mean that there is (a) glitch in the matrix? I’ll be wrapping myself in bubble wrap until New Year’s,” Slater joked.

If there's one thing the Facebook post is true, it's that Slater primarily covers the Cowboys for the NFL Network.
