A Festivus 2025 airing of sports grievances: We’ve got a lot of problems

It's Festivus 2025! And you know what that means: Lots of memes to share with your friends about aluminum poles, feats of strength and voicing grievances.

That's the last thing we want to do on Tuesday, December 23rd – which will be the date of Festivus, in case you didn't know. We asked To win staff regarding a sports complaint and they completed their task. Frank Costanza would be proud.

So here they are: A whole bunch of grievances.

This is for you, readers and listeners.

I'm going to focus on sports media here: I've seen complaints on Reddit and other social media from fans who want to see more traditional player analysis, more in-depth, thoughtful journalism.

I would completely agree. But for this type of content to exist, fans need to actually interact with it when it's in front of them, rather than just saying they want it.

Gossip, trade rumors and out-of-court drama are shown on television and blogs for a reason. This is not what sportswriters dreamed of when they chose this path. However, most often this is what the audience reacts to.

Come up with a college football playoff, please.

I don't know why I picked this out of my head – I'm not a big college football fan at all. But from afar, it appears the College Football Playoff is still a work in progress. From strange drama of Notre Dame by the sleep fest that is the first round, it's clear that SOMETHING has to change. Is this a way to select teams? Can we add some drama to this before the quarter-finals? Please! Do something! For my friends who love American football! — Charles Curtis
