Annual IEEE STEM Summitwhich took place this year on October 23 and 24, gathered pre-university educators, IEEE volunteers, and STEM enthusiasts to discuss ways to spark children's interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The free virtual summit attracted nearly 1,000 participants from more than 100 countries. Participants participated in keynote discussions, networking sessions and presentations designed to address the most pressing issues in STEM education. Speakers spoke about building a sustainable future, as well as harnessing the potential artificial intelligence in classes.
Why STEM Summit?
The event was organized and hosted by the company IEEE Educational Activities pre-university education a coordinating committee whose mission is to help reach school-aged children around the world by helping IEEE educators and volunteers create engaging activities.
The Steering Committee provides resources and services through TryEngineering, Educational activities program focuses on STEM outreach. The program provides teachers lesson plans, activityand other resources are free to use in your classroom and community activities.
Interest of young students Careers in STEM can begin as they become familiar with technology and learn how it works.

The summit opened with a greeting Mary Ellen RandallIEEE President-Elect 2025; Tim KurzwegVice President for Educational Activities; And Stamatis DragoumanosChairman of the Coordination Committee of Pre-University Education. They emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in STEM education.
Khadija Thibodeau And Heidi Gibson from Smithsonian Institution Science education The center introduced Smithsonian Science for Global Goals, a repository of hands-on activities and research designed to help students ages 11 to 18 learn about sustainability issues and experiment with solutions in their community.
Milswami Annaduraiprogram director of the company Indian Space Research Organization who is known as India's “moon man” for leading the country's two lunar missions, shared stories of the innovations that fueled his country's space exploration. He called on summit participants to be resilient, think big and embrace challenges.
Stuart Kohlhagenfounder and director Scientific nomad initiative, was made by a representative of the Thai agency MAKERHerSpace. Kohlhagen advocates for hands-on science and critical thinking in both formal and informal educational contexts. He discussed practical strategies for promoting critical thinking, creativity and collaboration among students around the world.
Other sessions explored interesting topics in modern STEM education. Participants learned inclusive strategies to overcome digital dividedesign thinking as a tool for solving problems and the effective use of artificial intelligence in pre-university education.
A practical master class was held operational designwho develops and improves instructions that will help artificial intelligence models to get more accurate search results.
Networking sessions and exhibit booths provided additional opportunities for participants to network, share ideas, and explore resources. More than 2,500 visitors visited exhibit booths hosted by IEEE technical societies and industry partners.
