Stockholm developer Moon Rover Games is suspending operations after being unable to secure funding for its in-development project Aldous.
In a post on LinkedInThe studio said it was looking for ways to continue production and asked stakeholders for support.
The Swedish developer was founded back in 2023 by veterans of Ubisoft, DICE and Paradox..
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce today that Moon Rover Games has been unable to secure funding to continue development of our game Project Aldous and is therefore ceasing operations as we continue to seek solutions to continue our journey,” the company wrote.
“When we founded this studio in Stockholm, we set ourselves a simple but ambitious goal: to build a human-sized studio where creative generosity and a focus on the player experience would allow us to tell unique stories and gaming experiences.
“We're proud of the progress we've made with Project Aldous, but we're most proud of the team we've built based on the studio's values and what each of them brought to the game, inside or outside of the software.”
Moon Rover concluded: “We thank our partners, colleagues, friends and families for their support on this journey and look forward to what's next. When you read this ad and believe you can help, don't hesitate to contact us.”
In 2024 Moon Rover received $3.5 million investment from NCSoft. This was reportedly the start of a “long-term partnership,” with the Korean giant's co-CEO Byungmoo Park saying Project Aloud will “enhance” its portfolio “in terms of genre diversity and regional reach.”
