Arc Raiders players are equally capable of being amazingly kind team players who will help you survive the post-apocalypse as well as stabbing you in the back and stealing your chicken feed, but what if you could control who you faced in the game? One raider decided to check it out.
YouTuber Domi created two separate Arc Raiders accounts to find out if the game's matchmaking works differently depending on your playstyle. One account will primarily be a heavy PvP, aggressive type – shoot first, talk later. The second account will be the complete opposite: it will focus on PvE and almost completely avoid shooting other people.
On the other hand, their friendly raider was quite calm. “Everyone is calm and pleasant,” Domi said after nine straight friendlies. “Nobody shot at me. In fact, no one even tried to shoot me.”
However, aggression-based matchmaking isn't just the crazy talk of one mere YouTuber. Talking to PC gamerEmbark Studios art director Robert Sammelin said that matchmaking is “quite complex, so we analyze behavior and match players accordingly.” Other factors may play a role, such as your equipment, but at least we know that you are at least partially responsible for the energy you attract. That raider who prevented you from mining may simply be karmic retribution.
