Lindsey Vonn, 41, adds yet another podium to blistering comeback start | Lindsey Vonn

Sofia Goggia finally took the World Cup super-G victory she deserved this season on Sunday. Lindsey Vonn was third for the second day in a row.

The two former Olympic downhill champions were separated on a high-profile podium by runner-up Alice Robinson, who is already a two-time winner this season on the World Cup circuit.

Goggia finished 0.15 seconds ahead of Robinson, who started before strong gusts delayed the race by 10 minutes.

The 41-year-old Vonn then hit a high speed of 115 km/h (71 mph) – one of the fastest of the day – but the ideal race line was elusive and she finished 0.36 behind Goggia.

The result was unofficial as the lower ranked riders had not yet started.

Vonn's podium in a row – after impressive third place in Saturday's downhill – became the 142nd in her legendary career at the world championships. It resumed exactly a year ago after a five-season break and was aimed at the Cortina Olympic Games in Milan, which begin on February 6.

Vonn's busy start to the World Cup season now means one win, four podiums and fourth place in five races in 10 days. The downhill victory in the Swiss resort of St. Moritz last weekend was the 83rd of her world championships career, which began in November 2000, before 24-year-old Robinson was born.

Vonn is now taking a three-week break from racing before the Jan. 10 downhill race in Altenmarkt, Austria.

Goggia has skated fast this season, but her best results were a pair of third places in St. Moritz in the downhill and a super-G won by Robinson in a tight race where Vonn was fourth.

The 33-year-old Italian's 27th career victory at the World Championships was her eighth in the super-G.
