Young Georgia Bulldogs A fan reminded the Bulldogs just how deep their SEC rivalry runs. Fifth grader Nolan McGill goes viral TikTok and X for refusing to sing along to Tennessee's “Rocky Top” during a school concert. During the video, he is seen shaking his head several times, and after the song ended, he booed, showing his distaste for the song.
Tennessee Volunteers use “Rocky Top” as your fight song during games. The song was written in 1967 by Felice and Boudleau Bryant and recorded by Brothers Osborne.

McGill earned praise from Georgia fans, and Kirby Smart even joked about building a statue of the child. “We are currently raising funds to install his statue outside the stadium.” Smart told On3“If it doesn’t impact our zero budget too much, we can increase it before we play Tennessee in two years.”
McGill continued David Pollack podcast “See Ball Get Ball” to discuss more about how he felt about the song. He grew up in Tennessee but was raised a Georgia fan.
“Our music teacher made us sing a whole bunch of songs,” McGill said. “And unfortunately, one of those songs was Rocky Top. And I will never sing this trash.”
Pollack asked McGill why he didn't sing Rocky Top, and McGill explained that “it's a terrible song.” Looks like McGill was raised right!

McGill interview with David Pollack
The rivalry between Georgia and Tennessee dates back decades, with their first matchup taking place in 1899. The Bulldogs played the Volunteers every year beginning in 1992, although that trend would end in 1899. 2026, unfortunately.
Georgia has most recently owned the Volunteers with nine straight wins and a 14-2 record against Tennessee dating back to 2010. The Bulldogs continued their reign in 2025 with a win. 44-41 in an epic shootout. Surely this funny clip will add fuel to the fire.
