Every game has its limitations: there are only so many things you can do, narrative threads to unravel, and buttons to press. What about a game that you can only play one round per day? A game where you “take up a sword against an NPC or other maiden creature and fight until one of you grabs the lifeless, bloody hand of the other.” This is a description of a tiny intuitive game from Yuri Game Jam called Everyday Sororicide.
Developed by Blood Machine and Snek Remilia Ketter, Everyday Sororicide describes itself as “a tragic attempt to capture the feeling of interacting with another girl on any level beyond the superficial.” It is also a game of dueling, as mentioned above, to the death. I'm 1v1 in Final Destination, not an item game, each character has bequeathed a sword that you have to perform several actions with. Strike, feint, dodge, jump, slam down – it's simple but special; you need to watch the moment of opening, the girly thing in front of you will not fall easily while the drone music blares more and more aggressively at you.
In single player mode, you can only play once per day. That's it. It is defiant in its structure, unwilling to give in to your desires to know more, to find out why these women fight each other so desperately, to reveal a secret you never knew existed. There is a mystery here that is made all the more painful by the fact that it refuses to be solved quickly.
This does not mean that this game can only be played once a day, as it actually has a multiplayer mode where you can fight with a comrade or maybe someone with whom you are in a toxic situation. Seems like the right game for this activity.
If you too want to learn how to interact with another girl, you can purchase Everyday Soroicide at itch.io for free.
