CHICAGO — Green Bay Packers defender Jordan Love was ruled out of Saturday's game against Chicago Bears due to a concussion after receiving a helmet-to-helmet hit from the defensive line Austin Booker in the second quarter.
Booker was penalized for roughing a passer on the play, his second such penalty of the game. He was noted for the same during the opening game. After receiving medical attention on the field while on the ground, Love ran to the sideline and walked to the locker room shortly after.
He was replaced Malik Williswhich led the Packers to a field goal and ended a drive in which Love was injured.
During his NFL career, Love never had a reported concussion. Earlier this season, against the Giants in Week 10, he was evaluated for a concussion but instead suffered an injury to his left shoulder. He returned to finish that game, and the only action he's missed since was a blowout win over the Vikings in Week 11.
Earlier this year, he had surgery late in training camp for a broken left thumb, but returned for the start of the regular season.
This is the second time Love has not completed a game against the Bears. He left last year's regular season finale with a right elbow injury but returned for the playoffs the following week. Earlier last season, he sat out the Week 8 game against the Jaguars due to a groin injury. He returned the following week.
He has missed two games since becoming the Packers' full-time starter in 2023. After starting every game in his first season, he missed weeks two and three of last season with a knee injury he suffered on the final pass of the season opener against the Eagles in Brazil.
The Packers play the Ravens next Saturday night at Lambeau Field before closing out the regular season against the Vikings.
