Timothée Chalamet teams up with EsDeeKid to quash alter-ego rumours

Timothée Chalamet has finally put to rest rumors that he is iconic anonymous rapper EsDeeKid by starring alongside him in a new video.

The Oscar-nominated American actor is rumored to be leading a double life as a masked rapper who only ever opens his eyes.

Some followers noticed a clear resemblance to Chalamet's eyes, and when The BBC questioned the star Regarding the connection earlier this week, he responded: “No comment… You’ll see, everything has its time.”

Now the actor, who adopted the hip-hop moniker Lil Timmy Tim in high school, has dispelled the conspiracies by posting a video of himself rapping alongside EsDeeKid in a remix of musician 4Raws' top 40 hits.

In the music video, Chalamet appeared to allude to the rumors, starting by showing only his eyes like a master trainer before pulling the bandana off his face and dropping the bars: “This is Timothée Chalamet chilling, trying to accumulate $100 million.”

He then referred to his partner Kylie Jenner with the line: “The girl got $1 billion.”

The clip was filmed at Andover Minimarket Off License in north London and was re-posted by EsDeeKid.

Fans have picked up on the speculation in recent weeks and both sides have remained silent as EsDeeKid entered the UK top 10 and Chalamet promoted his new film.

BBC Radio One's Greg James also asked Chalamet in an interview this week about his connection to EsDeeKid, to which he replied: “Everything will be revealed in due course.”

James updated signature on social networks overnight, noted that “everything has been revealed.”

He even gave the film the title “Marty Supreme”, praising him several times for the new collaboration, building on the film's already clever marketing campaign.

But it always seemed incredible that the two could be one and the same, and that Chalamet could rap with EsDeeKid's Liverpudlian accent.

Their collaboration quickly went viral, with British rapper Central Cee responding “Naaa” with crying and laughing emojis, Tinie Tempah writing “Haha this is cool” and American star Shaboosie declaring: “This will be #1.”
