An epic survival experience awaits in the Golden River project
Fairview Games, along with co-publisher Sightline Games, have confirmed that The Gold River Project will be released on Steam Early Access on January 23, 2026. Set in the densely populated and often unforgiving Pacific Northwest, this co-op survival adventure immerses players in a mystery that grows more disturbing by the day.
Events begin as a peaceful campaign, and then gradually develop into a desperate struggle for survival. Players find themselves trapped in a huge and isolated reserve, fenced off by high walls with no clear goal. Playing alone or with up to three other players in online co-op, players must explore their surroundings, manage limited resources, and uncover the truth about an unseen presence watching from a distance. Time remains a constant threat as the wilderness gradually approaches.
Exploration plays a central role throughout the journey. Players can kayak tranquil lakes, travel remote trails, and camp wherever the terrain allows. Survival depends on learning to live off the land. Every tool, consumable and item found has value. Players will pitch tents, build and expand base camps, cook food, and purify water. While carefully collecting, creating, trading resources and withstanding harsh conditions. Health, hunger, fatigue and temperature require constant attention, and skill badges reward those who adapt and improve.
Seasonal changes will also change the environment and introduce new dangers, forcing players to rethink strategies as conditions change. Procedurally varied locations, supplies, substations and paths ensure that no two playthroughs will be the same. Combining co-op survival, evolving environments and an elusive mystery, The Gold River Project delivers a deeply atmospheric adventure when it launches on Steam Early Access in early 2026.
