WITH Apple released the latest addition to its family of audio gear in September, users have reported static and crackling in headphones when active noise cancellation is turned on and no music is playing. Some users also report that this affects music playback.
We reported distracting static problem back in October, and judging by the torrent of online dissatisfaction (see below), it looks like Apple hasn't yet addressed this issue, which is a shame since the AirPods Pro 3 are currently one of ours best headphones.

Between now and October McRumors noted that despite Apple releasing two firmware updates (version 8B25 in November and version 8B30 on December 10), the company has still not been able to resolve the only issue that users have been complaining about since the launch of the headphones. But it doesn't end there; Some users are also reporting latency issues, as well as audio sync issues when watching videos, MacRumors adds.
Although some AirPods Pro 3 users have sought replacement models directly from Apple, this still has not resolved the issues mentioned above. One Reddit user even shared that they tried a staggering four pairs of AirPods Pro 3 in search of a solution, venting their anger at Apple for “pretending it wasn't a problem.”
Among the impatience and irritation of users, there is also an overwhelming feeling of regret about switching to the latest headphones from the manufacturer. AirPods Pro 2the predecessors of which one of the users in the Reddit thread called “too asshole.” They're right, as we also described the AirPods Pro 2 as an “extremely worthwhile upgrade from Apple.”
As it stands, there doesn't appear to be a firmware or hardware solution to these problems, and Apple has yet to speak out, which hasn't helped the current wave of user frustration. Apple's recent firmware updates don't list the exact issues they're intended to fix, but simply note “bug fixes and other improvements.”
