Maître Saladier Inc. of Quebec, Canada, is recalling 6,000 pounds of Lorraine Quiche products containing pork that were not submitted for re-import inspection into the United States, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
Lorraine Quiche pieces were produced on April 9th and 17th.
There are concerns about the quiche being in consumers' freezers due to its long shelf life, which reaches 2028.
The affected product was shipped to distributors in Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina and Texas and then continued distribution.
The following products are subject to recall:
- 19.8 lb cartons of “Custard Lorraine (Pork) La Madeleine” in metal trays wrapped in plastic.
Individual quiches are not labeled.
The products subject to recall do not carry the USDA inspection mark. The affected products have expiration dates of April 8, 2028 and April 16, 2028.
The problem was discovered during routine FSIS import surveillance activities.
There have been no confirmed reports of illnesses caused by consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an illness or injury should see a doctor. Consumers who purchase these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
